20th Annual Blessing of the Fleet
and Seafood Festival
Sunday, April 29, 2007
11:30-4:30PM

Why not give our local shrimp industry a little luck in the 2007 shrimp season...join others in the tradition of the "Blessing of the Fleet".  This Charleston event will be held at Alhambra Hall and Park in Mt. Pleasant, SC.  Join 11 local seafood restaurants and the East Coast Party Band Sunday, Friday, April 27, 2007 from 11:30-4:30 P.M..  Make sure to bring your appetite because their will be no shortage of shrimp for all to enjoy.

The day will start out with The East Coast Party Band jamming classic Carolina beach music at the main stage.  The smaller stage will be dedicated to the actual "Blessing", done by two local clergymen, starting at 1:00 P.M..  They bless each individual shrimp vessel that passes through the Charleston Harbor.  The clergymen give the local shrimp vessels and crew prayers of safety and prosperity in the 2007 shrimp season ahead.  In this same general area expect to see local marine, wildlife and maritime history exhibits.

Across from the water in the park area join 40 handpicked vendors for this Mount Pleasant tradition.  This arts and crafts area also provides children's activities with clowns, magicians and as well as face painting!  The festival is FREE for the whole family...get ready to eat that salty crustacean.

You will get your fair share of shrimp at this festival, but, there is more fine food and bars for you to discover in the Mt. Pleasant area.  Make your way around
Mt. Pleasant's restaurants and bars before and after "The Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival".
