Muscadine grapes on the vine.  The petite winery of Irving-House Vineyards will hold its third "Blessing of the Vine" Festival this November.  This Charleston, South Carolina event is actually just 20 minutes from downtown Charleston in the beautiful rural setting of Wadmalaw Island, SC.  The Blessing of the Vine" ceremony will host a wine tasting, grape stomping, live music by the Coppertone's, local BBQ prepared by the infamous Black-Jack Barbeque Team, and last but not least a priest will bless the vines in hope of a terrific crop of grapes and wine for 2006.

Irving-House Vineyards is the only one of its kind in Charleston and only one of a few estate wineries in South Carolina. They produce Live Oak Reserve which is a Red Muscadine with a blend that is a balance of soft subtle light fruit flavors.  Next they offer Magnolia which is a White Muscadine explained as a light refreshing, crisp sweet fruit flavored white wine.  They also offer Mullet Hall Red which is another Red Muscadine known as a dry red table wine with a lively fruity flavor distinctive of the Muscadine.  Second to last is Palmetto which is a Red Muscadine with a sweet rich light bodied fruity muscadine flavor.  Last in the Irving-House Vineyards portfolio is Tara Gold which is a White Muscadine with semi-dry, mellow, and light fruitiness flavors.  These five distinctive Muscadine  wines will be available for tasting at the "Blessing of the Vine" ceremony November 11, 2006.

Venture out before and after the Irving-House Vineyard's  "Blessing of the Vine" and visit some of Johns Island's best restaurants and bars, located just outside of Charleston, South Carolina.
