9th Annual Blessing of the Vine

Irving House Vineyard's "Blessing Of The Vine" 2011  The petite winery of Irving-House Vineyards will hold its ninth "Blessing of the Vine" event/festival this November 12, 2011.  This Charleston, South Carolina event is actually just 20 minutes from downtown Charleston, SC in the beautiful rural setting of Wadmalaw Island, SC.  The "Blessing of the Vine" event will host a wine tasting, local vendors, grape stomping, live music, local BBQ, and unique to this years event will be the 3rd annual "Cook-Off".  This years challenge is the "best burger".  There are only 15 spots available and the winner collects $500.  Last but not least, a priest will bless the vines in hope of a "bumper crop" of grapes, firefly vodka, and wine for 2011.

  The "Blessing of the Vine", Charleston, SC event, will be held November 12, 2011 from 1 - 5 PM.  The "blessing" will be held promptly at 2PM.  Admission for the Irving House Vineyard's Blessing of the Vine will be $5 per car.

  Irving-House Vineyards is the only one of its kind in Charleston and only one of a few estate wineries in South Carolina. They produce Live Oak Reserve which is a Red Muscadine with a blend that is a balance of soft subtle light fruit flavors. 

2011 Blessing of The Vine on Wadmalaw Island, SC just minutes form downtown Charleston  Next they offer Magnolia which is a White Muscadine explained as a light refreshing, crisp sweet fruit flavored white wine.  They also offer Mullet Hall Red which is another Red Muscadine known as a dry red table wine with a lively fruity flavor distinctive of the Muscadine.  Second to last is Palmetto which is a Red Muscadine with a sweet rich light bodied fruity muscadine flavor. 

  Last in the Irving-House Vineyards portfolio is Tara Gold which is a White Muscadine with semi-dry, mellow, and light fruitiness flavors.  These five distinctive Muscadine  wines will be available for tasting at the "Blessing of the Vine" ceremony November 12, 2011.

  Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka (harvested from muscadine grapes and local tea leaves) has been their latest addition at the vineyard with bottles literally flying of the shelves.  Taste it for yourself to see why it has become such a great hit!

  Venture out before and after the Irving-House Vineyard's  "Blessing of the Vine" and visit some of Johns Island's best restaurants and bars, located just outside of Charleston, South Carolina.
