Summertime in Charleston is the perfect season for a Bar-B-Que and Bluegrass
festival. At Boone Hall Plantation, this September event will be the 5th
annual 2011 Southern National Barbecue Championship Boone Hall Plantation
Bluegrass and BBQ Festival. Not a bad way to end Labor Day weekend in
Charleston!
Everybody knows
how serious BBQ can be, this event will prove just that with several
categories for this years BBQ special event in Charleston.
This is an amateur contest and is
not a sanctioned event. This is not an event for barbecue teams on the
national circuit. Categories for the BBQ contest are: Chicken - bone
in only, Ribs (spare ribs, loin or baby, no country style ribs), Choice (a
prepared meat of your choice. Must be identifiable as either, beef, chicken,
pork, fresh water fish or seafood). And finally, Best Set-up (best theme,
team appearance, originality, creativity).
To join in on the fun this year and
actually compete, just fil out a
Cookers Application and check out this years
Cook-off Rules. Also, if you would like to judge these tasty
competitors entries, fill out a
Judges Apllication.
The barbeque experts will
be traveling form all over the US to compete for cash and prizes. Live
Bluegrass will be performed all day long by nationally credited bluegrass
acts.
The festivities will
begin at Noon when the gates open with plenty of bluegrass and savory BBQ
all day until 8:30PM. A beer truck, or two, on the Boone
Hall Plantation premises, will help quench your thirst during the heavy
eating and dancing!
Tickets for 2011 Boone Hall Bluegrass and BBQ Festival are $20 for
adults and $8 for kids. This is a family BBQ festival in Charleston. Unique to this years
event, there will be a Celebrity Dunking Booth, where one can choose to dunk
their favorite local celebrity! They also brought back Mechanical Bull
Riding Contest, due to it's popularity at last year's event. Also,
there will be a fireworks show at the end of the 2011 BBQ and Bluegrass
festival at Boone Hall Plantation. This is a Charleston event one just
shouldn't miss!
