Carifest's cultural diversity, parade, learning sessions, and
celebration as they feature Jamaican in 2013. The Carifest has been
such a wonderful, fun filled experience, years past, and we're sure to expect the same
this June! This is a summertime family event in Charleston to enjoy!
This years Caribbean Festival kicks off on
Thursday, June 20 and ends on Saturday, June 22, with events for the whole
family to enjoy.
Carifest events will be spread throughout Charleston, and this years
spotlight is
Trinidad and Tobago! Here are some venues and
specifics for this years festival:
June 20, 5:30PM
Carifest Symposium
Avery Research Center
with Dr. Neil Parsan
Special guest of honor, Neil Parsan is the Ambassador to the USA, for
Trinidad & Tobago.
June 21, 7 - 12PM
Masquerade Fete & Mardi Gras Party
Location TBA This is a dance and dinner charity fundraising event in Charleston to
support Carifest's Children's Steel Drum Project! See you there with
your outfit, or mask (and cocktail)!
June 22, 3PM Caribbean Festival's
Parade & Celebration
Charleston's Visitor Center - Brittlebank Park
Whoo-hoo!
The Carrifest parade starts at 3PM and ends at 9PM. It settles at Brittle Bank
Park on Lockwood Blvd, where on can soak up Caribbean & Reggae music, and dance!
And, one will have the option to sample authentic Caribbean food and drink! Also, there will be a
Children's tent, arts, crafts, and relevant vendors.
