Carifest - Celebrating Trinidad & Tobago
Thurs., June 12 - Sat., June 14
Carifest's cultural diversity, parade, learning sessions, and
celebration as they feature Jamaican in 2014. The Carifest has been
such a wonderful, fun filled experience, years past, and we're sure to expect the same
this June! This is a summertime family event in Charleston to enjoy!
This years Caribbean Festival kicks off on
Thursday, June 12 and ends on Saturday, June 14, with events for the whole
family to enjoy.
Carifest events will be spread throughout Charleston, and this years
Rico! Here are some venues and
specifics for this years festival:
June 20, 5:30PM
Carifest Symposium Stern Student
Center with Dr. Monica Ponton-Arrington
Special guest of honor, Dr. Ponton-Arrington, the Southern Regional Rep of
the United Confederation of the Taino People. She also is the
Executive Liaison of Indigenous Affairs at IPI North America. She will
explain the The Lost People of Boriken. This is a free Carrifest event
in Charleston located on the College Of Charleston's campus.
June 14, 2 - 8PM
Cultural Celebration in Brittle Bank Park The parade runs through downtown and settles at Brittle Bank
Park, on Lockwood Blvd. Once in Brittle Bank park, one can soak up Caribbean & Reggae music, and dance!
And, one will have the option to sample authentic Caribbean food and drink! Also, there will be a
Children's tent, arts, crafts, and relevant vendors.

Parade & Celebration
Charleston's Visitor Center - Brittlebank Park
The Carrifest masquerade parade starts at 3PM and ends at 9PM.
Participants and registrants are encouraged to form their own band and join
in the festivities! Carrifest will assist band leaders and plan to
make it easy for first timers. It's purpose is to celebrate carnival,
celebrated widely throughout the islands.
