2006 Evening of Edible and Visual Art Benefiting Safe Moves of Charleston

A Culinary Art Co. Restaurant & Painted Palms Gallery

The owners of A Culinary Art Co. Restaurant and Painted Palms Gallery have joined together to create a very special and unique art experience, benefiting Safe Moves of Charleston.

A Culinary Art Co. will open at 6 p.m. on March 29 for an evening composed of eclectic international cuisine and a private showing of artwork by local artists, Steve and Andrea Neff. Cleanse you palate with Sangria, champagne cocktails, mojitos, and of course, red and white wines. Indulge yourself with gourmet dishes such as lobster caviar and white truffle shooters, crispy sweetbreads and white raspberry canapé, foie gras ancho mousse and frozen red grapes, scallop and mango ceviche on plantains, only to name a few.

Event attendees will be able to view a variety of artwork displayed in the restaurant and 25 percent of proceeds will benefit Safe Moves, a family violence resource center. Safe Moves helps victims and their families escape violence in the home, recover from the trauma and rebuild lives free from fear of further abuse.

A Culinary Art Company was opened in April, 2005 in Mt. Pleasant by Chef Tim McCusker. The restaurant is tapas style, but the food is not limited to Spanish influences. Chef Tim proclaims “The restaurant is my laboratory, as it were. Here I create dishes that I would like to eat myself and I try to stay away from the mainstream.” One of the most exciting elements of A Culinary Art Company is that the chefs are the servers. That way each guest receives information about the food they are eating straight from the person who prepared it, so you’re likely to find yourself talking to an enthusiastic Irishman who knows his way quite well around the kitchen.

Tickets are $45 each and can be purchased at Painted Palms Gallery, 811 Coleman Blvd., or Culinary Art Co., 1035 Johnnie Dodds Blvd. Suite B6, in the Fairmont shopping center next to Danko and La Hacienda.
