2007 Family Circle Cup
April 7th-April 15th, 2007
Beside having the young, beautiful,
world ranked #1 Maria Sharapova,
the Family Circle Cup has played host to big name tennis stars such as Conchita Martinez, Chris Evert, Martina
Navratilova, Martina Hingis, Steffi Graf, Tracy Austin, Gabriela Sabatini,
and Jennifer Capriati. The present tennis stars will enter to compete for
$1,340,000...with all their hard work and training they deserve it.
WTA #1 Maria Sharapova was also quoted saying
"Charleston is her favorite place to play".
Daniel Island's own
Family Circle Magazine Stadium will host this Charleston event, located just off of
interstate 526 at the Daniel Island exit. It has been since 2001 that
Charleston has hosted this official WTA tier 1 event and hopefully their
will be many more to come down the road.
The town of Daniel island will be exploding with tennis enthusiasts
enjoying one of America's top leisure sports. The Family Circle Cup
grounds will again host "The Match Point Market" filled with locals shops
and vendors. For the tourists, pick up a little souvenir to remember
our beloved Charleston, SC. The Match Point Market will be up throughout the
2007 Family Circle Cup.
A few other Family Circle Cup events one can't miss are; The LACOSTE
Fashion Show on April 9th, AT&T Fan Zone on April 9th - 15th, Happy Hours
and Night Matches on April 10th -13th, The Post & Couriers Girls Night Out
on April 10th, USTA Member Appreciation Day on April 11th, The Post &
Couriers Family Night on April 11th, and Family Circle Tennis Clinics held
