2008 Family Circle Cup

It's become that time again in April for The 2008 Family Circle Cup held on
Daniel Island just a few mintues from downtown Charleston SC. It happens to be the 35th anniversary of the Family
Circle Cup this year.
Daniel Island's own
Family Circle Magazine Stadium will host this Charleston event, located just off of
interstate 526 at the Daniel Island exit. It has been since 2001 that
Charleston has hosted this official WTA tier 1 event and hopefully their
will be many more to come down the road.
The town of Daniel island will be exploding with tennis enthusiasts
enjoying one of America's top leisure sports. The Family Circle Cup
grounds will again host "The Match Point Market" filled with locals shops
and vendors. For the tourists, pick up a little souvenir to remember
our beloved Charleston, SC. The Match Point Market will be up throughout the
2008 Family Circle Cup.
Who are the tennis champions playing this year you ask...here are a
few of the top 10 in the WTA. You have ball smasher Marion Bartoli, who made
her run at the 2007
Wimbledon tournament. The world class draw will also include World #1
Justine Henin, #4 Jelena Jankovic, #6 Venus Williams, #7 Anna Chakvetadze,
and #10 Serena Williams. Celebrate the 35th anniversary with plenty of
tennis action all week long.
Whether one is visiting, or a local Charlestonian, come fine dine or let
loose in many of the
Charleston
area's restaurants and bars.
Daniel Island
has its own eclectic
dining and
drinking establishments, but don't hesitate to drive a few minutes to
find what the
Charleston
restaurant and bar scene is all about.
