Irving House Vineyards Grape Stomp 2008
August 30, 2008
Saturday, 2 - 6 pm

Just like in the Medieval times, the 2008 grape stomp Charleston event actually held on Wadmalaw Island, SC, will offer wine tasting, a true grape stomp, local barbeque, and live bluegrass music.

The Irving-House Vineyard Grape Stomp, 2008 is held just 25 minutes away from the Charleston, SC peninsula on Wadmalaw Island just outside of John's Island.  Directions are simple: from downtown Charleston take Highway 17 South towards Savannah, go over the bridge where the tall circular Holiday Inn stands (still on 17 South), merge left after the bridge onto Folly Rd (East), after the 3rd traffic light take a right onto Maybank Highway (SR-700). Continue on Maybank Highway to Wadmalaw Island (about 10 miles). About 1 1/2 miles after bridge, watch for a curve, then bear right onto Bears Bluff Road. Travel 8 1/2 miles - the Irving House Vineyard's driveway is marked by two stucco columns on the right.

Irving-House Vineyards is the only one of its kind in Charleston and only one of a few estate wineries in South Carolina. They produce Live Oak Reserve which is a Red Muscadine with a blend that is a balance of soft subtle light fruit flavors.  Next they offer Magnolia which is a White Muscadine explained as a light refreshing, crisp sweet fruit flavored white wine.  They also offer Mullet Hall Red which is another Red Muscadine known as a dry red table wine with a lively fruity flavor distinctive of the Muscadine.  Second to last is Palmetto which is a Red Muscadine with a sweet rich light bodied fruity Muscadine flavor.  Last in the Irving-House Vineyards portfolio is Tara Gold which is a White Muscadine with semi-dry, mellow, and light fruitiness flavors.

Keep an eye out here at Charlestoncocktail.com for Irving-House Vineyards events in Charleston, SC.  They offer Charleston special events throughout the year such as; wine tasting, Blessings of the Vines, a Low Country Wine Festival, and special appearances by Charleston guest chefs. Charleston chefs offer the culinary knowledge to combine some of Charleston's local ingredients with Irving-House Vineyard's small-batch, tasty, unique, Muscadine wines.  Good combo!

Before and after you get those "dogs" stained purple, visit Johns island's restaurants and bars for a little something to eat and drink.
