Annual Mojito Challenge 2006
August 24, 2006

After a smashing, sold out Charleston, SC event in 2005, the Mojito Challenge is back by popular demand for a bigger and better second year. On Thursday, August 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Historic Rice Mill Building at 17 Lockwood Drive in Charleston, the Charleston Wine Traveler will partner with Good Food Catering and Bacardi Rum to host the 2nd Annual Mojito Challenge, featuring cocktail creations from ten of the city’s top bartenders.

Mojito Challenge guests will have the opportunity to taste and rate Mojito concoctions from the bartenders at Chai’s, Coast, Cordavi, Cypress, FIG, High Cotton, McCrady’s, Oak Steakhouse, Red Drum and Tristan. The 2005 Mojito Challenge winner, John Acquino from Coast, will be at the event to defend his title, and the top two new winners will receive prizes from Bacardi. Bacardi is providing all the rum for the event and mint is being provided by Edible Gardens in West Ashley.

Cost for the event is $20 per person, which includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Reservations are highly recommended, as the 2005 Mojito Challenge was a sell-out event last year.

Reservations can be made by calling 843.723.7952. To learn more about the Charleston Wine Traveler, call 843.607.WINE.

Afterwards move that buzz on to a new spot. Enjoy mojitos around town at some of Charleston's award winning restaurants and bars.
