29th Annual Taste of Charleston
Friday, October 9 - Sunday, October 11
The taste of Charleston is back again
in 2009...one can almost feel the nip
in the air and smell the sweet aroma of Charleston, South Carolina's world
renowned restaurants. This fun filled, afternoon, October, event will
be held at Boone Hall Plantation as usual. Just hop on Highway 17 North from
downtown Charleston. The Taste of Charleston main event will be held from
11:00 AM through 5:00 PM Sunday.
The town of Mount Pleasant is happy to support this 29th annual event
held by the
Greater Charleston Restaurant
Association. 40 of Charleston's premier restaurants will participate
in raising money while showcasing our tasty low country cuisine.
Expect to see around 8,000 food connoisseurs from around the Charleston, SC
area participating in this fun-filled Charleston event.
This year there are three events held in
downtown Charleston, SC. The first being Friday, October 9th and the
second and third event will be held Saturday, October 10th, 2009. These Taste Of
Charleston events are: "The Iron Chef Competition". This will be
held at The Culinary Institute Of Charleston. Charleston's premier
chefs go head to head in a culinary battle. The second event is "The
Taste of the Kitchen". Celebrity chefs will show you how they
create such magical food and The Culinary Institute of Charleston chefs will
also be up there taking participants for hands-on lessons. Also, on
Saturday, October 10th, "The Taste of the Arts" is located in downtown
Charleston. This art walk will be held at participating Charleston
art galleries and will showcase local talents. Of course, a mirage of
light appetizers and desserts will be available from some of Charleston's
finest restaurants.
The “Taste” will benefit
the community and other charities as well. It is a chance for the food
and beverage industry to give back! To date, the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association has
raised more than $1,000,000 to Charleston, SC charities.
Enjoy the local sounds of The East Coast Party Band, participate or watch the
waiters wine race, enjoy a beer and wine tasting with beers and wines from
around the globe, and watch local chefs prepare their signature dishes in
the "Culinary Corner". Bring the children as well!
This is a Charleston event that the whole family can enjoy and take-part in.
A kids corner will be on hand, complete with a petting zoo.
What a blast this has been in the past...put your drinking and eating
shoes on and "get down". Advance tickets
for "The taste of Charleston" are
$10.00 and are available through the Association office. Tickets purchased at
the gate are $12.00. Please leave the dogs and coolers at home, there will
be plenty of other dining and alcoholic options.
Tickets are $1 each and can be used for purchasing food and drink.
