Summerville, historically, was said to be the safe haven just far enough inland to protect early settlers from mosquitoes, heat, and disease. By moving to this densely wooded, slightly elevated area early Charlestonians would seek refuge from the coast. Since then Summerville has "stepped it up a notch" and established it self as beautiful suburb of Charleston, SC with fine dining, low country cuisine and restaurants.

Oscar's Place has served Summerville and the Charleston area for over 25 years. Their fantastic menu features everything from lowcountry-style shrimp & grits to Steak Oscar; a mouth-watering N.Y. strip that is hand cut, aged 21 days, grilled to order and is topped with asparagus, crabmeat and Hollandaise sauce.
The small town feel of Summerville, SC is starting to be sought out by tourists, locals, and businessmen. This reflects in their low-country cuisine which is offered in their restaurants, bars, and pubs. Also, this is the home to the only five star resort and fine dining restaurant in South Carolina. Seek it out and you will be dazzled.
Summerville always has something, as far as events go, up their sleeves. The "flower festival", and the "taste of the town" are just a few good times. Visit Summerville's bars, restaurants, and nightlife establishments for good times before and after these "shindigs".
